Residential Solar

Building a new home

You may have heard of the new whole-of-home energy (WOH) efficiency requirements for residential buildings in National Construction Code 2022. The new WOH requirements help to reduce the energy use of a new home. The requirements holistically consider the efficiency of fixed energy using equipment and on-site renewable energy generating systems, such as rooftop solar. GFE Group can work with you and your builder to calculate the right size solar system to comply with these new rules, provide cost of living savings on energy bills and support efforts toward emission targets.

Reduce your carbon footprint

Going solar not only helps you save more on your energy bills but, it also helps you to play your part to save the environment. Utilising it to generate power can greatly reduce the emissions of CO2 by decreasing the demand for fossil fuels. This will minimise greenhouse gas emissions and can reduce our carbon footprint. For example, an Australian household with a system size of 6.6kW would generate 11,046kWh of clean energy each year, and reduce 9.5 tonnes of harmful CO2 emissions from being emitted; the equivalent of planting 35 trees.

Save with solar

With electricity prices forecast to increase by another 30% in 2023, now is the time to switch to solar. It is no secret that installing a solar system on your roof extensively reduces your energy bills. The ongoing high solar rebates (which is reducing every year!), high feed-in-tariffs and increased electricity prices mean switching to solar now is super affordable. Furthermore, plenty of financing options and our 25-year solar performance warranty make going solar a great option.

Rebates

All residential solar systems are eligible for Small-scale Technology Certificates, or STCs.  In order to receive STCs the solar PV system you purchase must adhere to the Clean Energy Council (CEC) design and install guidelines, only use panels and inverters on the CEC approved list, comply with the relevant standards (like AS 4777), and be installed by a CEC accredited installer. These certificates (STC's) are a tradeable item and are created when you install a small-scale renewable energy system, such as solar power systems. GFE Group will quote you a price with the discount factored in, meaning you only have to pay the remaining amount after these reductions are taken into account.

Choosing a solar retailer

When choosing a solar or battery storage retailer, it pays to do some research. The Clean Energy Council (CEC) provides a program to assist you to select a retailer- Approved Solar Retailer program.

The CEC’s Approved Solar Retailer program is a way for businesses that sell solar and battery storage to show their commitment to responsible sales and marketing activities and industry best practice. These retailers can be identified by the Approved Solar Retailer logo.

GFE group is a CEC-approved retailer and provides a 12 year, whole-of-system warranty, using our GFE Group CEC-accredited installers to set-up your solar system. You can find us on the approved solar retailers on the Clean Energy Council website.
